No fun Friday this week – unfortunately, I had this thing called “work” that took up too much of my time… bummer.  Bask instead in my choices for movies to see in 2010…

Jan 8th – Leap Year – Yes, I know it’s a standard romantic comedy, and yes I know it will be predictable, but after seeing Amy Adams in Enchanted, I’m willing to give it a go… on video.
Jan 29th – Edge of Darkness – If this lives up to its billing as Mel Gibson’s Taken, it could be awesome!

Feb 5th – From Paris With Love – Speaking of Taken, this one is from the same director, who also did the very cool Banlieue 13
Feb 12th – Wolfman – Looks like it could be an interesting take on a movie monster which has been underrated of late.
Feb 12th – Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief – Having just finished reading this series, I’m super-excited to see the film versions, especially since they’re directed by Chris “Harry Potter 1&2” Columbus, who should do a good page-to-screen conversion.

March 5th – Alice in Wonderland – Tim Burton’s inevitably weird take on this classic stars all his usual suspects.
March 12th – Green Zone – Matt Damon & Bourne Identity director Paul Greengrass team up again to make what could probably be billed as Bourne 4.
March 26th – Clash of the Titans – Second of this year’s crop of mythology-based films, this one has some pretty big stars attached.
March 26th – How to Train Your Dragon – Previews from this animated film make it look hilarious and sweet.

April 2nd – Repo Men – A futuristic society with artificial organs that can be repossessed from their owners? Awesome!
April 9th – Date Night – Mistaken identity caper could be good, given that the leads are Steve Carrell and Tina Fey.
April 9th – The Losers – Based on a Vertigo comic series, this action film has an amazing cast and a hilarious trailer.

May 7th – Iron Man 2 – And the summer movie season begins with a bang!
May 14th – Robin Hood – Do we really need another take on this character?  With Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe on board, I would think the answer is yes!
May 21st – Shrek Forever After – After the dud that was Shrek 3, here’s hoping they’ve learned their lesson for the final chapter.
May 28th – Prince of Persia: Sands of Time – Another “mythological” film, this one is from Walt Disney, who may be looking for a new franchise to replace Pirates.

June 11th – The A-Team – The success of classic TV series’ big-screen reboots has been mixed (Charlies Angels and SWAT vs. Miami Vice and Starsky & Hutch).  Here’s hoping this one lives up to the fun of its predecessor.
June 18th – Toy Story 3 – The Pixar juggernaut rolls on.  They are constitutionally incapable of making a bad movie.
June 18th – Jonah Hex – Looks like Hellboy mixed with Van Helsing.  Could be good.

July 2nd – The Last Airbender – M. Night Shyamalan’s shot at reviving his career is a live-action take on this children’s fantasy series.
July 2nd – Knight and Day – Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz star in this blend of Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Wanted.
July 9th – Predators – They’re back, and hopefully Robert Rodriguez can make them suck less than in Predator 2 or AVP.
July 16th – The Sorcerer’s Apprentice – The director of National Treasure teams up with Nic Cage again to do a fully-fleshed-out live-action version of this Fantasia short.
July 16th – Inception – Christopher Nolan’s breather between The Dark Knight and the next Batman movie looks fantastic and trippy.
July 23rd – Salt – Angelina Jolie is back in action as a wrongly-accused (?) Russian spy in the CIA.  Looks good.

After July, things seem to dry up for a while, but I’m sure more films will be announced for the second half of the year.  Also, The Red Baron looks good, but has no wide release date.
