Almost missed it

Kate at SDA linked a story in the NYT about a Canadian doctor who’s arguments before the Supreme Court of Canada are based on the idea that long waiting lines for medical treatment violate the Charter rights to life, liberty and security of person. The case was heard a year ago, but no decision has been rendered, raising speculations that the Court agrees with Dr. Chaoulli and is waiting for the appropriate time to issue instructions to the government.

    There’s no way to know if this story will be significant or not – if he wins it will be huge of course, but what can they force provinces to do? Can they force them to allow private clinics?

    Can they force them to allow gay marriage – this is a Charter issue, after all…
