Allow me to tell you a story of technology run amok. Today’s song was downloaded from the iTunes store as one of their free “tracks of the week.” Free, mind you. Unfortunately, Apple encoded (at the time) all their music in a proprietary codec with a DRM wrapper. Boo. So, after trying to find a program online that would take off the DRM and give me a fresh, sparkling MP3 with which to thrill you, my savvy readers, I came to the conclusion that anyone that ever offered such a product has since been C&D‘ed out of existence by the mighty pome. So I had to use the analogue hole… that is, burn it to CD, then re-rip into a friendly format. Lesson learned? Apple sucks.
Anyways, onto today’s song, an accapella rendition of Auld Lang Syne by Straight No Chaser, they of the 12 Days fame. Strictly speaking, it isn’t a Christmas song, per se. It’s more of a New Year’s song, but that still qualifies as holiday music, so here you go!
